A few weeks ago I was searching Etsy and Ebay for Portieux Vallerysthal glassware, and one of the results was for Blendo Glass. I'd never heard of Blendo glass; it appears to have been really popular back in the '60's and made mostly in West Virginia. Are you familiar with it?? Have a look-see:

Blendo glassware reminds me of sorbet, orange juice, summer, cookouts, and smoothies. Is that weird?? I'm also loving the gold rims! What's your opinion on Blendo??!
we had the exact set (1st photo/orange pitcher and glasses) when i was growing up!
ReplyDeletehow fun it is to see it again. now i'm wondering what happened to it.
I think I have it now.
DeleteI have a pretty set of my own. It's a pink pitcher with 4 glasses. I just love it.
ReplyDeleteI have heard of it before although I have not seen them with a gold trim which I think adds a very elegant retro touch-
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw it I thought it looked like plastic wear you can get at any chain store- BUT I think the first set and the last with the trim are quite beautiful.
Ohhh gorgeous! I saw a lavender version recently and fell in love, but didn't know what it was called. Thanks for sharing!

Never heard of it. However, it looks mighty festive for the upcoming Spring season.

Never heard of this either. They're pretty rad.
ReplyDeleteDoes kinda resemble sorbet. Love the ones with the gold rim.
HMMM not familiar at all...but definitely looks fun! :)
ReplyDeleteI have searched for years for the name of this glassware. I have a water and a juice pitcher with 4 glasses each. The pitchers are in aqua blue and the glasses are lavender, orange and lime green. All have the gold trim. Both were gifts when we were married in Nov. 1961 - soon to be 50 years. Have not used these, just admire them.
ReplyDeletehahahahha: I look at that glass and see nothing but happy thoughts of visiting in the summer at my grandmother's in Arizona - we would sit in the afternoon with the orange colored set and drink iced tea - what a wonderful memory and I still have the set! thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteI recently purchased this set for someone: http://www.vintagemartini.com/barware/pages/266.html
ReplyDeleteI just inherited a Blendo set of six shot glasses and a drink mixer pitcher done in lime green and turquoise blue! Loving what it tells me of my great-aunt and her Hollywood lifestyle!
ReplyDeleteThe Gold rim is signature to West Virginia Glass Company. I have many pieces of the Blendo. Started with pitcher and glass set that belonged to my grand mother and my collection keeps growing. most of it found at flea markets , thrift stores and yard sales. Could order from ebay but I like the thrill of the search. Kind of like easter egg hunt. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy new collectible...started with three glasses from a set of 4 (need to find a 4th to complete the set). Each glass was $1.99 at Salvation Army!
