Weekend snippets

The tree went up. A little early, I know, but it was either Saturday or December 15th.

Dinner with friends Saturday night.

I got to be the guinea pig while my friend practiced her photography skills. Thank goodness I'm not super awkward in front of the camera or anything. **Jenny, why do I look like an Oompa Loompa in this photo?!?

Getting ready for our unofficial family photos. I wanted to straighten Luca's hair. It didn't go over well; she's a tomboy, you know.

Our best attempt at getting family photos for our Christmas card. Well, look at that; we're both wearing tartan plaid. Must be a coincidence. It's not as if I'm obsessed or anything.

I rewarded Mr. Frankel for his good behavior for putting up with my crazy photo antics with Indian food immediately following our little photo shoot. *Mr. Frankel, I know I wasn't supposed to post this photo, but it's too cute to let i-photo keep it all to itself. You understand?

Sunday afternoon looked like this.  It was a typical Twilight movie: pretty bad at parts. Oh how I love Twilight. Forever.

I hope your weekend was just as fun! I'm off to do some laundry, cleaning, and possibly a little shopping; I'm a stay-at-home mom for the next few days for Miss Luca Bear. Lord, help both of us.

The Most Gorgeous Tartan Images Ever!!!

Of all the Tartan dining rooms I've seen (oh wait, I've never seen another), this is by far the most beautiful. No. words. necessary. *Except for photo credit: images via Rue Mag.

Actually, I do have something else to say. I'm spending Christmas in this room. I have no idea how, but I'm doing it. Who's with me????

WSHome Wish List

WSHome Wish List

I love Williams-Sonoma Home, but they are 100% out of my price range right now. That doesn't stop me, however, from perusing their website on a weekly basis. Right now they're having a sale, and the Mason Glass Top Desk is one of the items marked down. I'm quite certain this is the most beautiful desk I've ever seen, and it's only $795 (marked down from $1150), but we have a brand new desk, so I have no chance of finagling my way into owning one right now. Someday- MAYBE!

If WSHome is in your price range, you should check out the sale, buy something, and let me know about it so that I can live vicariously through you! Thanks!

XOXO,

Kelly

Almost Time for Some Tartan...

I was walking through Target the other day when I noticed some plaid pillows and throws in fall and holiday colors, and it immediately made me think of the holidays. For me, when I see anything in a tartan pattern, it's like seeing a candy cane- it's synonymous with the holidays. J. Crew and Ralph Lauren always have beautiful tartan patterns:

*These images are from J. Crew's fall/holiday 2007 collection, but they're some of my favorite!

*Image via Ralph Lauren (This might be a little over-the-top-tartan, but I'm still a fan).

*Image via Vivienne Westwood; this would be a very practical choice for a holiday party... ;)

I'd like to find a fun tartan throw or maybe a couple of pillows for the holidays this year. Here's a few items for the home:

*Image via Highland Warmth; I like the one with yellow accents!

*And of course I'll be needing a tartan passport cover when I take my pretend vacation to Europe over the holidays... :)
Working at J.Crew during college, I learned a decent amount about the history of tartan plaids. I won't bore you with it, but if you'd like to learn more here's a link for "tartan" on Wikipedia.

XOXO,

Kelly
