What's Your Take on Snakes??

I was out to dinner last night with some friends, and the topic of snakes seemed to keep coming up throughout the evening. Normally, whenever I think of snakes, my initial thought is "gross", but when I saw this image in Elle Decor a few months back, I had a different reaction.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd never thought of a snake as beautiful until I saw that photo. The artist is Guido Mocafico. Here are some of his other snakes:

I actually really love these photographs and wouldn't mind having one hanging in my house one day, so I guess snakes are OK with me, provided they are one-dimensional and stuck behind a glass frame. What's your vote??

Heat Wave

I noticed in J. Crew's holiday catalog that a lot of the models were wearing Nars' Heat Wave lipstick; after doing a little more research it looks like the same color will show up in the Spring 2011 collection as well. It's a really fun, reddish-orange color. I have never purchased lipstick in my entire life, but I figured it was time. I picked one up on my way home from work tonight, and while Christopher was away at class I tried it on and loved it. I did, however, have a very specific guess as to what Christopher's reaction would be when he walked in the door, and ladies and gentlemen, I'm pleased to confirm that I know my husband all too well. Christopher's response the minute he looked at my bright, red lips: "Um, did you make a batch of kool-aid tonight or something?" Men.

In honor of the season, I put together this little ensemble for one of the many swanky holiday parties that I've been invited to in my imagination. Truth be told, I have no gatherings to attend, but there's still a strong possibility that I will prance around the house in a dress and faux fur jacket. Just ask Christopher; he hates it when I play dress up.
