Imagine the possibilities....

I searched "bamboo" the other night on Craigslist, and look at the beautiful patio set that popped up. I say "beautiful" because I'm imagining it painted and the cushions recovered. Christopher always tells me I have an overactive imagination (i.e. "great vision").

The set is iron (heavy), so I LOVE that the chairs have casters!

Table comes with a glass insert (not shown):

Imagine the chairs recovered in one of Quadrille's fun outdoor fabrics:

*Imagine the chairs painted orange with this print... or a poppy red. POP!

Or something more budget friendly from Premier Prints:

Dad, how would you feel about hooking the trailer up to your SUV and heading to Dayton to pick these babies up???  Let me know.  ;)

***The only problem is we have a patio set right now. Anyone want to buy it??? :) **Christopher, stop freaking out. I'm not probably not going to try to actually make this happen.

More Brass Bamboo...

Check out my recent find: brass faux bamboo nesting tables:

I haven't even cleaned up the brass, but it's in pretty good condition, actually!

And what do you think about our barnacle-like lamp??? I moved it into this room for now; should it stay??

Christmas Bedroom Revisited

I have a few new photos to show of our bedroom. The nightstands are nearly complete. I just need to put one last coat on during the holidays, and I'm thinking now that I have to find new hardware for them because we had a few technical difficulties with one of the drawers, and now one of the holes is stripped for the screw.

Hopefully in the next two weeks I'll be able to get this room painted. Cross your fingers.

XOXO,

Kelly

Paint Update!

I took the entire week of Thanksgiving off work, and while it would have been nice to rent some movies and check a few books off my reading list, I did neither of those things. My motto last week was "no rest for the weary", and it was so worth it! Remember this post?? Well, I officially bid "adieu"!!

BEFORE:

AFTER:
I haven't rehung the gallery wall photos because I'm thinking about changing them. Currently, the wall has all of our wedding photos, but I'm considering putting sketches from a book in them instead (maybe a book filled with black and white Matisse drawings).

I decided this afternoon, when I finally finished painting, that I am in love with the end result. I couldn't be happier! For anyone interested the color is "Clam Shell" (516-6) by Pittsburgh Paints.

In other news, our new entryway light arrived Wednesday; the current one hangs too low (whoops, my fault). I need to con my father-in-law to teach me how to hang light fixtures; if he's a smart man he'll refuse knowing that I'm the most clumsy person in the world.
Either way, this little pretty needs to find its way to the ceiling- FAST!

Lastly, I've primed and painted the nightstands. I still need to sand them lightly and do one last coat. As you can see I haven't figured out the hardware situation yet, so I've left them unpainted for the time being.

That's all for now! It's back to reality (work) for this one!!!

Gold-Plated Flatware!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I spent the morning and afternoon at my grandmother's, and then Christopher and I headed to our friends' house for some killer leftovers and wine. All in all, it was a wonderful Thanksgiving!

It's interesting because I have been going to my grandparents' house for as long as I can remember for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and yesterday I noticed something for the first time: my grandmother's gold-plated flatware. Whenever I am in close proximity to something sparkly or shiny my attention span is similar to that of an ADHD child. Completely fixated on the flatware, I was practically crossing my eyes trying to stare at it every time I went to take a bite of turkey. My grandfather purchased it for my grandmother a long time ago because of all the holiday entertaining they did together. I didn't take a picture of it or anything, but when I got home last night I started doing google searches for gold-plated flatware. Apparently, I'm a little late to the "trend". Back in 2008 Crate and Barrel came out with there "Meret flatware" (no longer available)

This looks fairly similar to my grandmother's

And then I came across these:

Once again, as if the billion times I've said it isn't enough, I LOVE FAUX BAMBOO!!! I already have this set from Target:
Can you imagine how beautiful a set of gold-plated bamboo flatware would be on a table setting? I CAN!!!! Naturally, I'm on the hunt to find the most beautiful, inexpensive set of gold bamboo flatware. I've found some listings already and will be calling today, but it will most likely take me awhile to find exactly what I want!

For anyone interested, more reasonably priced options can be found via Craigslist, ebay, and iClassifieds:

Faux Bamboo Nightstands

It's no secret that I love (i.e. am obsessed with)bamboo furniture. I've mentioned it here, here, and here. Tonight my "collection" of bamboo furniture got a little bit bigger. Using a Visa gift card that I got through work, I was able to purchase a set of faux bamboo night stands via ebay. They're in great condition, but they'll need to be painted (glossy white most likely) and possibly some new hardware.
Please excuse my two-tone wall. I'm in the middle of painting!!

via Williams-Sonoma Home. Beautiful!!

I'm not certain if I'll change the hardware or not. Here's a pull from Restoration Hardware that I love though!

Depending on my mood and how much painting I have left to do in the living room and entryway I might start sanding and priming these guys!!

XOXO,

Kelly
