Tom Binns Design

I've been really preoccupied with getting settled into our new home. It has been a LONG time since I have read any fashion magazines (as in probably February or March). Last night I started looking through the latest issue of InStyle, and this image caught my eye:

Was it her hair that caught my eye? Her dress? The makeup, perhaps? No, no, and no. It was that big, freaking sparkly necklace!!!! Who is responsible for such a beautiful creation? Well, after a quick google search I found the answer to be: Tom Binns. I'm sorry to report that I've never heard of him before, but I'm officially A HUGE (and by huge I mean I really like him, not huge as in I've been eating too many carbs... although both may be true) fan. 

You know the drill, kids. So after the google search off to Tom Binns' site I went. And what did I find once I arrived? Enough sparkly, bejeweled pieces to make me salivate (it's better to salivate over jewelry than carbohydrates, I suppose). Here are a few of my most favorite: 

Dear Mr. Binns, I am absolutely in love with your designs. You and I should be friends. Think about it, please. We could discuss over a low-carb lunch. Maybe you could let me wear one of your necklaces for an afternoon. Just a thought....

I'm feeling a DIY coming on....

I've blogged about Tom Binns Designs before, and I'm still crazy for them. 

My plan? To tangle up a bunch of necklaces. Genius, right? It's Monday morning, folks. Cut me some slack. 

Here are just a few that I've found on etsy and ebay. I'll keep you posted when I finally finish start this little DIY. And for those of you who think I'm over-the-top, this probably just confirms that assumption. At least I'm not boring.....

Weekend snippets

Well it's Monday, and Christopher's back in class. He was on fall break all last week, and let me just tell you, it was SO nice to come home from work and have him be there. I of course tried to dissuade him from going back to class: "You know, Christopher, I really like having you around in the evenings. It's too bad we can't make that happen more often....." No such luck. Back to school it is, so I'm putting my big-girl pants on and getting over it. 

At least I have pretty Sabre demitasse spoons (awkward transition, and no, acrylic spoons don't compare to my husband). I ordered them a few months ago, and they're finally here!

I've been using them to stir my coffee and eat ice cream, yogurt, and cottage cheese. I like to use small plates and bowls, so it only makes sense that I would use small spoons.... 

I've been cruising etsy lately looking for crystal necklaces to make my Tom Binns-inspired necklace, and I fell in love with this necklace: 

It's vintage and totally gorgeous in my opinion. Reminds me of Kate Spade- girl after my own heart.

Heart, Necklace 

The first "must-have" that I don't have. I LOVE this necklace. Reminds me of Tom Binns (blogged about him here), but the Abbey Necklace, by Lauren Elan, is actually in my price range. **It's also in Mr. Frankel's price range. Ahem.
